With Life, Comes Death

Watching the little foal with its sister brought both sorrow and joy to Jessica's heart. The past few weeks had been hell for the Nottingham stable staff. It all started on a calm night in the mare barn, Jane an old gray mare had just given birth to a small dark filly. It all went south after the foal birth, Jane's heath took a nose dive within a hour. Chase and his vet team tried all they could but sadly Jane passed away by morning. The fate of the foal was unknown, at first they bottle fed her and for awhile it work till something great happened. Jane's older daughter Rain was moved to the mare barn. Rain quickly formed an attachment to her sister and soon she took the filly under her wing. The little foal was not longer alone but was still without a name. The staff felt her name should be something in Spanish, so they picked Bendito Vida meaning Blessed Life.

With passing say the filly grew stronger, she soon was given a barn name of Joy. She had such life to her that she was such to joy to be around. Sadly life at Nottingham was not that joyful, at the stallion barn the fillies sire was slowly declining in heath. The palomino stallion became depressed a few day after Jane death. Dukes lively energy faded first and then he stop eating. Chase once again that week tried to help save a Nottingham horse, he found nothing wrong medically with Duke. The staff at Nottingham tried to get him to eat and improve his mood, but nothing help. This went on for a week before one cold morning Selena found him in his stall. Duke has passed away sometime a around dawn. He was buried next to Jane in the Nottingham back yard, their resting place make by two statues.

This will never get easy to say goodbye to these horses.
